Here's 4 learning myths that every student is going to want to know about...

Jumping from school, to college, to university... it's easy to pick up some bad habits along the way, and if there is one thing that can add to this, it's listening to those study myths that echo through the hallways.
But what's true and what's false... and how do you know what to listen to and what to ignore? Great question!
Although I can't confirm or deny every myth you might have heard, I can give you the low down on the 5 most common myths I've heard over the years and the reason why these are untrue...
Myth #1 You need to be born smart, to be smart
Intelligence is not something you are simply born with or without... it's something you can become and earn overtime.
Yes, some people might be born with a higher intellectual baseline than you might (yep, I'm talking about the kids in class that ace their exams despite barely doing any work all year) - but that doesn't mean that, with the right learning techniques you can't meet their intellectual baseline and sky rocket past it.
Myth #2 The more hours you study for, the better
You should always focus on quality, rather than quantity.
The key is to make sure you're focusing on studying the most important pieces of information, are getting productive not busy and are giving yourself lots of breaks in between study sessions.
Myth #3 Re-reading your notes is the best way to learn them
This type of study technique is very passive, and doesn't actually help to embed the information into your long term memory.
So, although it has it's place... it isn't something you should be using during your revision sessions.
Myth #4 Having days off is lazy
You are only human, meaning you're not able to go, go, go 24/7 and produce high quality work (or not end up burning out).
Your work will suffer if you don't strategically factor in regular breaks & rest time into your study days.
So go out for coffee with friends, have a netflix binge one evening and always, always put your mental & your physical health before anything else.
Why? Because without this... you'll never be able to stay on top of your studies, achieve the top grades and succeed in your student life!
